Tour 1

Sheep farming on traditional pastures in the Ötztal

Visit sheep pastures in the Ötztal valley, where traditional farming methods help to preserve cultural landscape and biodiversity.

 

Tour 2

The Tyrolean Haflinger

Keywords: Horses, Breeding, Alpine Pasture and Valley

The Tyrolean Haflinger, known for their typical chestnut color and flaxen mane, are well known across Europe. Visit the stud farm in Ebbs and get direct insights into the breeding and selection process. In good weather we will also visit the Alpine Pasture for Haflinger stallions.

Tirol Milch Dairy Tour and Dairy Farm

Tirol Milch dairy produces some of the most popular dairy products in Austria. At Stefan Lindner’s dairy farm, we get insight into high animal welfare standards. Then we visit one of Tirols biggest dairy producers to see how the milk gets refined into prize-winning cheese specialties.

Brown Swiss Cattle and Hydropower

Brown Swiss are especially popular in the west of Austria, due to their robustness and adaptability to difficult terrain. We will visit a cattle pasture and then drive up the steep mountain road to the hydropower plant. The reservoir at the Schlegeisspeicher is a must-see when visiting Tyrol!

Archehof Niedermair – Conservation of endangered breeds

Ark farms are havens for genetic conservation: here many endangered animal breeds are kept in the environment they were originally bred for. Learn more about how cows, pigs, chickens and sheep live together on the mountain pasture and how their symbiosis can be beneficial in many ways.

Agriculture meets Tourism at the Eng Alm

Nestled in the Alps, the Eng Alm nature reserve offers unspoiled beauty and authentic Tyrolean charm. Explore a show dairy, shop for local specialties, and experience the perfect blend of alpine farming and tourism. Discover the alpine pasture’s motto: “Unlimited discovery, amazement, and lots of cheese!”
A valid travel document (passport) is required to bring with you to this tour.

Tour 7

Tyrolean Grey – Fine milk makes fine chocolate

Visit the Tyrolean Grey cattle farm of Family Pittl, where the small herd is kept on the original farm as suckler cows. Next door we visit the chocolate factory, that refines the milk of Tyrolean Grey into  a multi-faceted range of the finest chocolate with raw materials directly from the Austrian Alps.
